For renewable energy investors
From the farm's internal network to the operator's connection point
We design and build the electrical infrastructure of solar and wind farms: MV cable lines, cable ducts, substations and the connection to the distribution grid.
What investors need
Connection on the timeline set by the connection conditions
For a renewable investor, the electrical infrastructure is the stage that decides when the farm starts generating. The connection conditions issued by the operator set the connection point and parameters, and the connection agreement sets the deadlines. The contractor has to build the farm's internal network and the connection line so that the operator accepts them without reservations.
In practice this calls for the same skills we use on operators' networks: MV cable lines, drilling under roads and watercourses along the connection route, joints and terminations, junctions and substations, and acceptance documentation to the operator's requirements. We walk through the process step by step in Connecting a solar farm to the MV grid.
- MV cable lines within the farm and to the connection point
- Cable ducts, including for fibre for telemetry
- MV/LV substations, junctions and equipment supply
- Design and build for the electrical infrastructure

How we work with investors
Stages of cooperation
- 01
Reviewing connection conditions
We review the connection conditions, the farm concept or design and the route of the connection line.
- 02
Design and preparation
On request we prepare the design of the electrical infrastructure; we organise approvals, materials and the schedule.
- 03
Construction
Internal network, cable ducts, substations, MV line to the connection point — with drilling wherever needed.
- 04
Acceptance and connection
Testing, as-built documentation and survey, and participation in acceptance by the operator.
Farm infrastructure
What grid connection infrastructure consists of
A general description of the typical elements — the actual solution depends on the farm's capacity, the connection conditions and the operator's requirements.
Internal network
Cable lines linking inverters or turbines to transformer substations and on to the farm's collection point.
Transformer substations
Substations that step the installation's voltage up to MV grid level — most often containerised units delivered ready to install.
Junction or switchgear
The point where the farm meets the operator's network, with switching equipment, protection and metering.
MV connection line
A cable line from the farm to the connection point set out in the conditions — an existing MV line, a switching station or a GPZ main substation.
Telecoms
Ducts and fibre-optic cables for telemetry, control and communication with the operator.
Crossing obstacles
Directional drilling under roads, watercourses and drainage ditches along the connection route — without digging them up.

MV cable lines we have already built
To be clear: the projects below are distribution network contracts, not farm connections. They do, however, show exactly the works a renewable connection is made of — MV cable lines, drilling, joints, junctions and substations — delivered on time and accepted without defects.

Questions
Questions from renewable investors
Do you design the electrical infrastructure?
Yes. We also deliver the electrical infrastructure of solar and wind farms on a design-and-build basis — from the internal network to the connection to the operator's grid.
Do you build the connection line to a GPZ or to the operator's MV network?
Yes. Building MV cable lines, including drilling under roads and watercourses along the route, is our core specialism. The scope of the connection — and which part is built by the investor and which by the operator — follows from the connection conditions and the connection agreement.
Do you supply substations and equipment?
Yes. Through our equipment supply service we deliver transformer substations, junctions, cables and accessories that match the design and the operator's requirements.
Do you lay ducts for fibre?
Yes. We build fibre-optic ducts, which are usually run alongside the MV cables for farm telemetry and control.
What do you need for a quote?
Ideally the connection conditions, the farm concept or design and a map of the connection route. A description of the scope is also enough to start — we will clarify the rest. Use our request form.
Getting a farm ready for connection?
Send us the connection conditions or design — we will propose the scope, technology and schedule.
