Overhead line due for modernisation

For distribution system operators

A contractor that knows the operator's standards

We build, rebuild and underground MV and LV networks to the requirements of distribution system operators — as main contractor, consortium leader or subcontractor.

What operators need

On time, to standard, fully documented

A network operator commissions works to improve supply reliability, connect new customers and generators, or remove clashes with other infrastructure. It expects three things from a contractor: compliance with technical and material standards, a schedule that holds — including planned outages — and documentation that lets the network be taken into service without rework.

We have evidence on each of these. On a contract for ENEA Operator, Zielona Góra Distribution Branch, as consortium leader with TECHNO-BUD sp. z o.o., we built 3 MV/LV transformer substations and an MV cable line 1×150/25 mm² of 3 × 5,715 m, then dismantled 8.266 km of MV overhead line together with 89 pole positions. The works ran from 16.10.2025 to 28.05.2026, through the winter months.

  • Materials and technology to the operator's requirements
  • Outages planned in advance and kept to the necessary minimum
  • As-built documentation and geodetic survey at acceptance

How we work with DSOs

Working together, step by step

  1. 01

    Tender or enquiry

We bid on our own or in a consortium — depending on the size of the contract and the client's requirements.

  2. 02

    Preparation

Works and outage schedule, agreements with landowners and road authorities, materials to standard.

  3. 03

    Construction and connections

Works by our own crews and plant, connections made in outage windows approved by the operator's control staff.

  4. 04

    Dismantling and acceptance

Removal of the old network, testing, as-built documentation, survey and handover for operation.

Undergrounding

Why operators underground MV lines — and what it means on site

MV overhead lines running through forests and wooded areas are vulnerable to faults during storms and heavy wet snow. Replacing them with cable is a common way to improve supply reliability. We explain this in more detail in Why operators underground MV lines.

On site, it means working on two fronts: building the new cable line — with drilling under roads and watercourses, cable junctions and joints — and, once supply has been transferred, dismantling the old line, poles and pole-mounted substations. That is how the 15 kV undergrounding in Toruń went, where as a subcontractor to ZILINSKIS we laid 5,725 m of 3× XRUHAKXS 1×150 mm² line and completed around 600 m of drilling and pipe jacking.

Technical experience

What we have already done on MV networks

Several MV cable types

We have laid 3× XRUHAKXS 1×150 and 1×240 mm² and 3× NA2XS(F)2Y 1×150/25 mm² cables — 24.8 km of MV line route in total. Cable comparison in MV cables.

Junctions and substations

We have set ZKSN cable junctions, including a 3-panel unit in Konin, LV cable junctions and new MV/LV transformer substations, while dismantling pole-mounted ones.

Joints and terminations

We have installed 15 kV MV cable joints and indoor, outdoor and connector terminations — 18 sets in Konin alone.

Crossing obstacles

Around 1.5 km of directional drilling and pipe jacking across three contracts — wherever an open trench was not an option.

Questions

Questions from network operators

Can you bid in tenders on your own or in a consortium?

Yes. For ENEA Operator we were consortium leader on a contract worth PLN 2,405,200 net. We choose the form of participation to suit the tender requirements.

Do you work with operator-supplied materials?

Yes. We can also purchase and deliver materials to the operator's standard through our equipment supply service.

How do you plan outages?

We draw up the outage schedule during site preparation and agree it with the operator's staff with the required notice. Preparatory work is done without outages, so the connections themselves take as little time as possible.

What documentation do you hand over at acceptance?

As-built documentation, the geodetic as-built survey, test reports, material certificates and the documents required by the operator's acceptance procedure. Details on the How we work page.

Do you dismantle old networks?

Yes — dismantling MV and LV overhead lines, poles and pole-mounted substations is a standard part of our undergrounding contracts.

Planning a tender or investment project?

Send us the documentation — we will prepare a quote with a works and outage schedule.
